AN ARCADIA-BASED man Christopher Mazarire, yesterday accused his neighbour Olga Daleen, of being a racist after the latter approached the Harare Civil Court seeking a peace order accusing him of disturbing her peace through the use of his machinery at his home-based welding shop.

Daleen told the court that the reason why she was seeking the said peace order was because of her health and Mazarire’s business of spraying, painting and welding amongst other things was making her condition worse and disturbing her peace.
“I want him to remove everything he is working with because he tends to make too much noise for me and it’s bad for me as I am not well,” Daleen said.
She also told the court that Mazarire had previously got a peace order against her to stop her from disturbing him yet in actual fact he was the one disturbing her.
However, in his response Mazarire dismissed Daleen’s claims and accused her of lying, adding that his business was in no way disturbing her peace since it was being conducted in his yard.
Mazarire also told the court that at one point city council surveyors and police officers were invited to his residence to assess his business and when they came they found no fault in the way he was conducting his business and as a result he found no reason to stop it.
“I strongly think that is not really about my business but rather a racial issue where she is laying those allegations against me because of my race which is different from hers,” Mazarire told the court.
In his judgment, magistrate Trevor Nyatsanza dismissed Daleen’s application saying her allegations against Mazarire were baseless.
