Ebola Fight Undermined *Port Loko, Kambia Magazine Bemoaned

Head of the Communication at the National Ebola Response Centre (NERC) Sidie Yaya Tunis has said that the three districts currently undermining the Ebola fight in the country are, Port Loko and Kambia in the northern part of the country and Magazine Wharf, Western Urban.

According to him, these areas are still faced with challenges like residents not adhering to the precautionary measures given by health professionals and also being complacent because of the low cases that are being recorded now.
Commenting on people running away from quarantined homes and treatment centres, Sidi Yaya Tunis said that there has always been watertight Security in those areas, adding that those who tried to escape at the Hastings treatment Centre took advantage of the fact that they cannot be touched because of the transmission of the Ebola virus.
He however, stated that those people who attempted to run away have been recaptured and returned to centre.
The current positive cases of Ebola according to Sidie Yayah Tunis are being recorded at quarantined homes and that most of these cases are as a result of movement of sick people from one area to another.
