The Labour peer resigned as Deputy Speaker of the House of Lords yesterday.
Baroness D’Souza, the Lords’ Speaker, said she had referred The Sun's   revelations to the Upper House’s Commissioner for Standards “as a matter of urgency”. Watch Video...

Married Sewel also quit as chairman of a Lords Committee responsible for upholding House standards.

Baroness D’Souza said: “The House of Lords will continue to uphold standards in public life and will not tolerate departure from these standards.”

The Sun on Sunday yesterday revealed video footage of Sewel snorting coke off of a hooker’s breast.

But last night he had yet to resign his seat in the Chamber and a Lords source claimed he had no intention of standing down.
