This is the shocking condition a young golden retriever was left in after vile thugs poured BATTERY ACID on his back.

The dog, who has since been named Fergus, was left with severe burns down his entire back that later turned into open, oozing wounds.
He was found struggling to walk down a street in Lancaster, California, and taken to a dog pound.

The golden retriever was then brought to the Animal Medical Center of Southern California in West Los Angeles where stunned vets began attempting to treat his wounds.
They discovered Fergus had battery acid poured from across his spine from the top of his neck all the way down to his tail.

Shocking: The battery acid left Fergus with nasty open wounds
Medics battled to clean the wounds and treat the young pooch, but as they began working on him the terrified animal suffered a seizure.
Barbara Gale with Southern California Golden Retriever Rescue told KTLA 5: "I think at that point his body just shut down.”

Illness: Fergus suffered a seizure shortly after being found due to his body shutting down
Despite that, vets were able to treat the wounds and Fergus is now slowly recovering, but is not expected to be completely well until months later.
Incredibly, vets are stunned with how loving and happy Fergus remains, despite him being the victim of a shocking crime.

Thanks: Fergus shows love to the man who saved his life
Ms Gale said: "I can’t imagine a human that had had this done to them and be that forgiving and loving."
Fergus is expected to be put up for adoption once he is better, and a Gofundme page has been set up to help pay for his treatment.
