Former World champion Joshua Clottey has poured chilled water on his girlfriend’s alleged sex scandal.
The
hard-hitting boxer was quoted on many media platforms to have caught
his girlfriend in bed with another man before his eliminator bout
against Jose Luis Cruz in New York, USA, in 2008.
According to
the reports, Clottey, sharing his take on the infamous Amanda-Afriyie
Acquah leaked recordings, admitted catching his girlfriend in the act.
But
the ex-International Boxing Federation (IBF) Welterweight champion has
rubbished the reports, saying, “My brother, the guys have misquoted me,
and that is why I decided some time ago not to grant interview to any
radio station.
“The reporter asked my take on the Afriyie-Amanda
and Jordan issue and in explaining, I cited myself and my girlfriend as
an example.
“We had a misunderstanding so she left the room; I
followed later but it ended there. I didn’t say I caught my girl in the
act and also had sleeplessness nights and as a result lost my fight. I
won that fight, if you remember.
“I did tail her secretly not
because I was suspecting her of infidelity, but I wasn’t sure where she
was going in the cold in a foreign land; and more so, she was angry so I
was being protective.
“Because my speaking of Twi is sketchy, I
have been a victim of circumstances on two occasions. I suffered bad
press after my fight against Packman when I explained what accounted for
the loss, and today look at what they are saying about me. I understand
the local Twi dialect but speaking has always been a problem. It is not
true that I caught my wife sleeping with another man.” |
