Man who lost wallet in London full of cash day before holiday stunned when stranger “Nigerian” returns it

                                     Michael Bartelle
A man who was crushed when he lost his wallet stuffed with cash the day before his holiday had a wonderful surprise when a Good Samaritan returned it.

Michael Bartelle posted a picture with kind-hearted Symeon Onipede in a life-affirming Instagram entry about the ‘basic kindness of humanity’.

Michael lost his wallet on Portobello Road in London and was fretting because it contained a large amount of money to be exchanged for his trip.

He wrote: “In it I had everything – driving license, credit cards, and a huge chunk of cash to exchange.

“After a stressful night, I received an email when I was boarding my plane the next day.

“It was from this man, Symeon Onipede, and when I called him he told me he would hold it for me until I came home.”

Once he got home he met Symeon, who returned his wallet fully intact, “with a smile and a friendly face and an unwillingness to accept my reward (which I of course made him take anyway)”.

He added: “Please send this man, this shining beacon of the basic #kindness of humanity, all the love you can today.

“I promise he’ll make sure it gets right back to you.”

One Instagram user described the story as “amazing and so refreshing!!”, while another added: “Kindness at its best. And love.”
